Longhorn Inspections is owned and operated by Danny Pitts, who has 40 years of experience in real estate construction and inspections. Danny personally performs every real estate inspection.

Background

Danny came to Austin in 1966 to attend college at the University of Texas, and subsequently graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in the Plan II program and the equivalent of a major in psychology. He attended graduate school at the University of the Americas near Puebla, Mexico.

Construction Experience

Danny went on to become a carpenter and contractor in the Austin area, mentoring under a lead Union Contractor with over 50 years experience in all aspects of construction: electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. Danny’s 22 year career as a general contractor included co-ownership of Pitts and Prince Construction Company, where he directed all company operations and served as onsite superintendent for all projects. Danny worked on a variety of residential and commercial projects. Residential projects included spec single family homes, custom homes, and home additions, as well as rehab of apartment buildings, the largest of which contained 60 units. Additionally, Danny has experience in the development of rural acreage for residential uses, including utility installation and road construction. Danny’s experience in commercial construction includes buildings up to 10,000 square feet in size, with uses including office, warehouse, and restaurant.

Inspection experience

Danny retired from the construction business in 1998, having decided he was way too much of a perfectionist for today's world. He decided to continue using his construction knowledge through offering people real estate inspection services. He started with Clue So's Inspections, Inc. in 1998, then founded Longhorn Inspections in 2003. For the past 18 years, Danny has been inspecting houses and commercial buildings for individuals who consider their investment an important one and prefer someone with experience, a keen eye, and the diligence to provide them with a sound evaluation of their potential investment. He has conducted more than 4,620 inspections, including single family homes, condos, commercial strip centers, restaurants, churches, offices, and specialty use buildings.
